Yield: 12 Servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups precooked cornmeal
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ cup Manchego cheese
  • pinch of salt
  • Avocado oil spray
  • 1 cup queso fresco

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a bowl, mix the cornmeal with the milk, water, butter, Manchego cheese, and a pinch of salt. Knead with your hands until a smooth dough forms that doesn’t stick to your hands.
  2. With wet hands, take a piece of dough about the size of a small orange, spread it out and fill it with cheese. Close and flatten with your hands to form the arepa. Repeat until you have used all the dough. Then spray the arepas with avocado oil.
  3. On the Instant Vortex control panel, press Air Fry, then set time to 15 Minutes and temperature to 375°F (190ºC). Press Start.
  4. Turn them over when prompted and spray with more oil. Put back in for 5 Minutes at 395ºF (200ºC) to brown.
  5. Serve with hot sauce and enjoy!
