Ingredients

  • 1 green or semi-ripe plantain
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Peel the plantain and cut straight (not diagonally). Depending on the size, you should get 5-6 chunks.
  2. Place plantain chunks in a bowl, brush with oil, salt lightly and place on top of the rack.
  3. On the Instant Vortex control panel, press Air Fry, then set time to 10 Minutes and temperature to 355°F (180°C).
  4. Once cooked, remove the plantain chunks, place them on an oiled board and smash them using a jar lid or a pataconera (plantain press).
  5. Once pressed, brush with some oil and salt.
  6. On the Instant Vortex control panel, press Air Fry, set time to 5 Minutes and temperature to 355ºF (180°C).
  7. Lastly, remove the patacones and serve with cocona chili or other dipping sauce of your choice.
