Ingredients

  • Chicken Marinade
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp. turmeric
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. paprika
  • 1 tbsp. Kashmiri chili powder
  • 2 tbsp. garam masala
  • 2 tbsp. Greek yogurt
  • Butter Chicken Sauce
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • Pizza Base
  • 300 g. pizza dough
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded, as needed
  • Olive oil, for pan

This Butter Chicken Square Pizza combines the rich, creamy flavors of Indian butter chicken with the crispy, cheesy crust of a Detroit-style pizza. Baked in the InstantHeat™ Pizza and Toaster Oven, it delivers bold, buttery, and saucy goodness that’s perfect for dinner or sharing with friends.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Combine the chicken thighs with garlic powder, turmeric, salt, paprika, Kashmiri chili powder, garam masala, and Greek yogurt until evenly coated. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight. 
  2. Grill or pan-sear the marinated chicken until fully cooked and lightly charred. Let rest, then chop into bite-sized pieces. 
  3. Melt butter in a small pan over medium heat. Add tomato sauce and simmer for 3-4 minutes. Stir in heavy cream and cook until slightly thickened. Adjust seasoning to taste. 
  4. Lightly oil a square Detroit-style pan. Stretch the dough to fit the pan and let proof at room temperature for 1 hour, until puffy and airy. 
  5. Top the proofed dough with a light layer of mozzarella. Bake in the InstantHeat™ Pizza and Toaster Oven at  500°F / 260°C for 4 minutes, until the crust begins to set and the cheese starts to melt.
  6. Remove the crust from the oven. Spread the cooked butter chicken evenly over the base, add another layer of mozzarella, then spoon on extra butter chicken sauce. 
  7. Return to the pizza oven and Bake at  500°F / 260°C for 5–7 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and edges are golden and crisp. 
  8. Let the pizza rest for 1-2 minutes before slicing. Optionally garnish with fresh cilantro or extra sauce. Serve hot.
