Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Korean chili flakes
  • 1/2 cup Korean chili paste
  • 1/8 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup garlic
  • 2 cups Corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup Apple cider vinegar or white vinegar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 1/8 cup Peanut or vegetable oil
  • 1 lb cauliflower
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika powder
  • 2 cups Japanese panko
  • Cooking Spray
  • 1 tbsp chopped green onion and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
  • Use a saucepan and heat on High. Or if using an Instant Pot pressure cooker, select Sauté on HIGH. Set the time to 5 minutes. Press START. Add the oil to the saucepan or Inner pot.
  • When the oil is hot, add garlic and sauté for a minute.
  • Add the rest of ingredients and stir occasionally. Cover saucepan or put the lid on the Instant Pot, as the sauce becomes thicker and will splash around the pot.
  • Once the food cycle ends, transfer the sauce into a heat resistant glass food storage container.
  • Wash the cauliflower well and shake dry. Place on a large cutting board. Using a large, heavy knife, cut it in half from the bottom stem all the way through the top. Cut the cauliflower into smaller florets.
  • Place the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika powder salt, and pepper, into a zip-lock bag and add the cleaned cauliflower. Seal the bag and shake it until the cauliflower are well dusted. Remove the cauliflower from the bag and place them on the clean surface.
  • Crack the eggs into a small bowl and add a pinch of salt and beat it thoroughly. Place the panko breadcrumbs on a flat-bottom container.
  • Make sure the cauliflower is coated with the egg, but not dripping. Then place it into the panko. Coat all sides of the cauliflower in the panko thoroughly and place them in the air fryer basket, leaving a bit of space between them.
  • Spray all sides with cooking spray oil.
  • Place the cooking pan on the Roast/ Bake Level in the oven and then put the oven rack on the Air fry level.
  • Select AIR FRY and set the temperature to 450°F for 14 minutes. Press START.
  • Once the oven is preheated, place the air fryer basket on the rack.
  • When the oven shows TURN FOOD, gently flip the cauliflower with tongs. Spritz with additional cooking spray, if necessary, and cook until they turn golden-brown.
  • When the program ends, transfer the cauliflower on a serving plate.
  • Add 1 1/2 cups or more of sauce into a large bowl and add the air fried cauliflower. Stir well until the cauliflower pieces are evenly coated with sauce.
  • Garnish with 1 tablespoon of chopped green onion and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve immediately.
