Apple Butter


  • 5 lbs Gala apples cored and diced
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup water
  • Add all ingredients to the Instant Pot and stir to combine.
  • Pressure cook on High for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, flip the valve to release the pressure.
  • Gently mash all ingredients together with a wooden spoon.
  • Press Cancel then Saute, set for 20 minutes. If possible, reduce the sauté temperature to Medium. Place the lid back on with the venting valve Open.
  • Every five minutes, open the lid and stir the apple butter. The mixture should thicken and get darker in color the longer it is cooked.
  • After 20 minutes., puree the mixture in a blender until smooth.
  • Distribute into jars for easy storing. The apple butter will continue to thicken as it cools. Spread apple butter on breads, use for desserts, or add into baked goods
