Upside Down Caramelized Apple Cake


  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 apple
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 7 tbsp melted butter
  • Grease a 7-inch fluted aluminum cake pan.
  • Mix Base ingredients for the base, except apple slices, in a bowl and spread evenly to the bottom of the pan.
  • Overlay the apple slices at the bottom of the pan, making sure there are no gaps.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Add water to the inner pot. Place steam rack in the inner pot.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk egg and sugar together.
  • Add vanilla extract, butter, and milk to egg mixture, whisk together.
  • Sift dry ingredients into your egg mixture, mix well.
  • Pour Cake Batter on top of apple slices evenly. Cover cake pan with aluminum foil.
  • Place pan on steam rack. Close and secure lid for pressure cooking.
  • Select BAKE, CUSTOM level, HIGH pressure and set time. for 35 minutes (00:35). Select START. Turn off KEEP WARM.
  • When program ends, Natural Release pressure.
  • Remove the Multi-Cooker Lid. Take the cake out. Remove the aluminum foil and let cake cool.
  • Place a plate over cake tin and flip to serve.
