WiFi 2.4 GHZ

How do I know my WiFi is 2.4 GHz?

The Smart WiFi only works with a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection. If you are unsure what kind of router you have, check the name of the network in your device’s Settings. If it has 2.4G or 2.4 or 24 in it, it is ok. If it has 5G or 5 in it, it is 5 GHz and will not work with the Instant Pot® and you must choose a different network

Go to this guide for more help. If you still are not sure, call your internet service provider (ISP).

Dual Band WiFi routers

Some routers broadcast in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. If you are having trouble making the right connection, you can temporarily forget your 5 GHz network in order to pair successfully to the 2.4 GHz.

In WiFi Network Settings, tap 5 GHz network, then tap “Forget network. If you are unsure how to forget your network on your device, search for “How to forget my network on ”. Follow these instructions

VPN

You can’t pair with the Smart WiFi if your VPN is on. Search for “How to turn off VPN on “device name”. Follow these instructions.

Instant Pot® WiFi is turned off

Your Instant Pot® Smart WiFi screen displays a WiFi icon to show the status of its connection. There are three possible states for the WiFi icon:

  • No WiFi icon: Instant Pot WiFi is off. Briefly press the Pressure Level button and look for the WiFi logo. Do not press and hold for 3 seconds because this will switch to APP mode, which still shows offline in the App.
  • Blinking WiFi icon: Instant Pot is searching for a WiFi network. This can sometimes take a few minutes.
  • Solid WiFi icon: WiFi is on and the Instant Pot is paired with your device. This is not the source of your configuration error.

Incompatible WiFi network (iPhone & iPad only)

Make sure the network used for pairing is 2.4 GHZ. How do I know if my WiFi is 2.4 GHz?

The App has trouble connecting to your Instant Pot® (Android only)

Android devices have some unique reasons why pairing could fail:

  • Cellular/Mobile data is turned on. When your Android device has a SIM card inserted and mobile data is turned on, pairing may fail. Make sure that mobile data is turned off.
  • Technical difficulty. Sometimes an error occurs during pairing and you must try again.

The solution in both cases is to go to the device’s WiFi settings and make it “forget” your Instant Pot WiFi, then return to the Instant Pot® App and tap “Try again”. Follow the instructions and continue.

Instant Pot® not in APP mode

If the Instant Pot display does not show APP, you cannot pair with it.

Press and hold the “Pressure Level” button on your Instant Pot® Smart WiFi for 3 seconds until the display shows APP.

Tap “Try Again”.

Do I need to have App notifications turned on?

Yes. You must have App notifications turned on in order to get status updates from your Instant Pot®.

iPhone & iPad:

  • Go to Device Settings > Notifications, select Instant Pot App > Notifications, set Allow Notifications to On.
  • Android:

  • Go to Device Settings > Apps & Notifications, select Instant Pot App > Notifications, set Show Notifications to On.
  • Device Not Found

Make sure that your Instant Pot® Smart WiFi is plugged in and turned on.
Your cooker may take a few minutes to connect to the WiFi network.

    Location Services & Permissions (Android)

There are two kinds of Location Services and permissions: App Level Location permission on the App, and System Level Location Services on the mobile device itself.

During pairing, both must be turned on. System Location Services may be turned off after pairing, but App Location permission must remain on in order to cook through the App.

The App detects if settings are incorrect and prompts with an “Action Required” notice.

If you see this notice, tap “Try Again” and follow the instructions to turn on Location Services and Location permission.

Grant the App Location permission first.
    Tap “Allow”.

Turn on your device’s Location Services.
    Tap “Try Again”.
