It is my pleasure to present to our much-loved Instant Pot® Community the 4th Edition Instant Pot® Recipe Booklet!

Within this cook book, we continue to partner with the top chefs, authors, and bloggers to compile a collection of over 30 original recipes that have been specifically tailored to the unique capabilities of our products. I am confident that new users, as well as seasoned enthusiasts, will appreciate the many delicious meals provided by our contributors. Many of the classic Instant Pot® recipes have been included, however our contributors have been cooking up many new dishes that we are excited to share with you. There is truly something for everyone!

    I am a ver new user. The 4th Edition has some issues I would not expect in a 4th Edition. Today I am making Red wine Poached Pears – sort of. Recipe never says to put pears in and says to add bay, cloves…and sugar. How much sugar, not anywhere in list of ingredients. I put in 4th of cup – went to website of Laura P. And shows 2 cups. Also indicates wine should cover pears. Who would know. Yogurt recipes differ, but I managed that, creame brûlée and chicken and dumplings so far. Disappointed in 4th Edition and inability to correctly print recipes for folks you reference.

      My apologies, it does say add the pears in the book. I missed it. App says 1 and a third cups of sugar but I thought cook’s website said 2. Loving the App, but would have put all three poached pear recipes together. Alphabetical by Red, white and cinnamon is unusual.

      Hi Melodee,
      With the ‘Sterilize’ program one can pasteurize dairy products; sterilize baby bottles, jars, utensils, and certain types of canning much more conveniently.

    The cooking table seems dramatically shorter for the soaked beans as compared to older tables. Is this correct? I also wondered about the rice varieties as an earlier comment noted.

    I’m really excited about my new Instant Pot. However, the 4th edition recipe book left me fairly disappointed. I plan on checking out the other editions recipe books but I would love some simple, easy recipes with ingredients most people keep on hand. Some of the recipes call for ingredients most people will never eat let alone use on a regular basis.

      Hi Janet,
      It is considered cooking ‘at altitude’ at over 2000ft, so being over 5000 feet will indeed affect cooking. To cook in the Instant Pot, just add 15% cooking time to your recipe’s cook time!

    Hello, we have the instant pot mini – 3 quart size. How do we adjust the amounts in the recipe book which came with the pot. Is it the same but just halve the amounts? Does the time adjust by half? Thank you, A&W

      Yes they can be adjusted for the 3 quart. As a guideline you can adjust these recipes by 50%, the time stays the same. Use your discretion, as some experimentation may be required.

    The vast majority (and all of those in the included printed book) of recipes use the manual setting,even for cakes, instead of the automatic options.

    Are the results with the auto settings not good?

    I just bought the Instant Pot Mini and was going to try one of the recipes that was in the recipe book that came with the Mini, but I could not use the recipe because of the small size of the pot.
    Are there recipes for the Mini? And why would you put recipes in the booklet that comes with the machine that will not work in the machine?

    I have the mini duo. The recipe for the butternut soup seems to have more ingredients than the model recommends using. Just got this for Christmas and is the first thing we are trying. Help?

    St Nick delivered a Duo Mini under our tree. Last night I made a Cornish hen recipe which was wonderful. Tonight I would like to try boneless short ribs. Is it acceptable to layer the ribs or to just cover the bottom of the insert?

    Page 17 of the 4th edition recipe booklet for my brand-new Instant Pot Duo, has the instructions for three types of rice, including brown rice. All three use 4 minutes of cooking time at high pressure, but I think that’s totally wrong for brown rice. The step-by-step instructions for brown rice are exactly the same as those for white basmati (only the amount of water, listed above the instructions, is different). I think this is a mistake.

      The chart on page 46 makes more sense than the rice recipes and has a significantly longer cook time for brown rice, plus a different ratio of water. I think there are errors in the recipes or tables too. Not sure what to believe! Let me know what you learn from trial and error…

    I have a recipe for a creamy-based potato soup (cream of chicken soup, cream cheese, chicken stock) that I made in my slow cooker the other day that said to cook for 7 hours. How would that convert to Instant Pot time? I have the “small” one (60?). Thanks for your help.

      Our latest model is the Ultra 10-in-1 multi-use programmable pressure cooker. The manual button is now referred to as “Pressure Cook”.

      The Instant Pot heating element is from the bottom. With a fully sealed environment, the heat is controlled through 3rd generation microprocessing technology accurately reading pressure and temperature sensors etc.. so it can perform complex cooking tasks and provide consistent results every time.
