Pasta Bolognese


  • Drizzle olive oil
  • 1 lb (500 g) ground meat
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 tbsp ground garlic
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 7-8 tomatoes
  • 8 oz (200 g) sliced mushrooms
  • 3 cups water or chicken broth
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 cups short whole wheat pasta
  • pepper
  • Handful of Parmesan cheese
  • Place the stainless steel inner pot inside the Instant Pot®. Press Saute and set time to 20 Minutes. Add the olive oil to the ground meat, stirring constantly. Once browned, set aside.
  • Add the onion, carrot, ground garlic, and salt.
  • Once the onion is translucent, add tomatoes and mix.
  • Return the ground beef to the pot.
  • Add the mushrooms, broth or water, tomato sauce, pasta, and pepper to taste. Once this is done, press Cancel.
  • Close and lock the Instant Pot® lid. Make sure the steam release handle is turned to Sealing. Press Pressure Cook, pressure level High, and set time to 6 Minutes.
  • When done, press CANCEL and turn the steam release handle to Venting. Once all the pressure has been released, open the lid.
  • If there is still a lot of liquid, press Saute again and continue mixing constantly until thickened.
  • Finally, add the Parmesan cheese; mix and serve.
