Ingredients

  • 1 c whole milk
  • 1 package yeast
  • ¾ c sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 8 tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 3 ½ c flour
  • 2 c powdered sugar
  • Vegetable oil spray
  • jam
Drowning in powdered sugar and effortlessly delicious, beignets offer everyone the perfect sweet bite. Traditionally cooked in oil, these air fried beignets are lighter with a more delicate crust. Make sure to roll out the dough ½ inch to achieve a nice thick bite!

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine room temperature whole milk, yeast, and 2 tbsp of the sugar. Allow the yeast to bloom for 5 Minutes, or until frothy and fragrant.
  2. With the dough hook, beat in the eggs, melted butter, salt, vanilla, and sugar until combined.
  3. Slowly incorporate the flour on low speed until a soft, pliable dough forms. Add in 1 tbsp of flour at a time if it’s too sticky to handle, or 1 tbsp of milk at a time if it is crumbly.
  4. Knead the dough on medium speed for 3-4 Minutes until smooth. Place in a clean mixing bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and allow to rise in a warm place for two hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Lightly flour the work surface and roll dough to a ½ inch thick square.
  6. Cut the dough into equal 2x2 inch squares.
  7. Preheat on the Air Fry function. Place beignets in a single layer, careful not to overlap. Spray with vegetable oil spray.
  8. Air Fry at 330°F for 9-11 Minutes, or until lightly golden.
  9. Meanwhile, in a medium mixing bowl add the powdered sugar. When the beignets are done, immediately toss in the powdered sugar bowl.
  10. Continue air frying until all beignets are cooked.
  11. Serve warm with jam on the side. Enjoy!
