FAQ’s: Instant Pot App

How do I download the “Instant Pot® app” iOS or Android app?

The iOS app supports: iPhone 4S/5/5C/5S/6/6 Plus, iPad 3/4/Air/Air2, iPad mini/mini 2/mini 3, iPod touch 5 or later, running iOS7 or later.
Android app supports: Samsung Galaxy S3/S4/S5/Tab4 7″ & 10″, running Android 4.3 or later.

There are three ways to install the Instant Pot® app.

  1. Scan the QR code on the right. It takes you directly to iTunes App Store or Google Play. QR FAQs: Instant Pot App
  2. Type in the URL: http://instantpot.com/app on the Internet browser on your smartphone/tablet.
  3. Launch the “App Store” app on Apple devices or Google Play app on Android devices, and search for “Instant Pot” with this icon icon FAQs: Instant Pot App

What are the benefits of signing-up?

Signing up for the Instant Pot® app provides you full access to all functions and features to provide users with the best experience possible. Signing up allows you to create personalized grocery lists, add recipes to your favorites list, and rate and post recipe reviews!

Will you be sharing my information if I sign-up?

Instant Pot® values your privacy.  The information you provide will be kept private in our app’s database, with the exception of your username and nape being public when leaving reviews on recipes. We will not give your data to third parties.

How will you use my personal information?

We use your information to operate our app’s business activities. For example, we may use this data to contact you about changes to the app/web site, new services, special offers, troubleshoot, and enforce our website’s terms and conditions.

Why am I unable to add a recipe to my favorites?

To add a recipe to your favorites, you must be logged into a created account on the app. If you are in the process of attempting to favorite a recipe, a pop up will appear indicating “sign in required”. Select “sign in” and the app will re-direct you to the sign in/sign up page, where you can create an account or sign in using your existing account if you have already created one.

Why am I unable to write a review?

To leave a review on a recipe, you must be logged into a created account on the app. If you are in the process of attempting to write a review on a recipe, a pop up will appear indicating “sign in required”. Select “sign in” and the app will re-direct you to the sign in/sign up page, where you can create a new account or sign in using your existing account if you have already created one.

Why am I unable to add ingredients to my grocery cart?

In order to add ingredients into your grocery list, you need to create an account on the app and logged in. If you are in the process of attempting to add ingredients to your grocery list and click to add, a pop up will appear indicating “sign in required”. Select “sign in” and the app will re-direct you to the sign in/sign up page, where you can create a new account or sign in using your existing account if you have already created one.

How do I add ingredients from a recipe to my grocery cart?

To add ingredients from a recipe, simply select the ingredients you would like to add from the list. The selected ingredients will then be checked with a red checkmark. Once you have selected all ingredients you would like to add to you grocery cart, scroll to the bottom of the ingredients list and select the “+ add checked ingredients to grocery list”. Once the items are added, the checkmarks will turn to green to notify you the items have been added to your grocery list.

How do I remove items from my grocery cart?

To remove an item from your grocery list, select the ingredient you wish to remove and the ingredient will become crossed out. The next time you open the app, these ingredients will be removed from the list the next time you open the app.

Can I add ingredients that are not part of a recipe?

Yes you can. Simply, go into your ingredients list and select ‘Add ingredient to list’. From here you can manually type in an item that is not from a recipe.

Where do I find the grocery cart to review items added?

You can view your grocery list by selecting the menu icon in the top left corner of the app. From here a side menu will open where you can view Recipes, Favorites, and your Grocery List. Click on Grocery List to view your cart.

How do I rate a recipe?

To rate a recipe, select the far right speech bubble icon in the menu of the recipe. Select the “Leave a Review” button and then simply select the number of stars you would like to rate the recipe. You do not have to leave a written review to leave a rating.

I am trying to rate a recipe but the app is not saving my rating, why?

To rate a recipe, you must be logged into a created account on the app. If you are in the process of attempting to write a review on a recipe, a pop up will appear indicating “sign in required”. Select “sign in” and the app will re-direct you to the sign in/sign up page, where you can create a new account or sign in using your existing account if you have already created one.

How do I share a recipe?

To share a recipe, click on the arrow share icon on the recipe’s image. This will provide you with the ability to share the recipe through Airdrop (for iOS users), text message, email, and various social media platforms.

Can I share a recipe if someone has not downloaded the app?

You can share the recipe with someone who does not have the app through the share icon.

Can I add additional recipes to the app?

Currently, users are unable to add additional recipes to the app independently.

Am I notified when new recipes are added?

You will be able to view new recipes on the app on the “Newest Recipes” Category on the landing page of the app. You will not receive push notifications to your phone unless you select the “Receive Push Notifications” feature.

 I do not understand a recipe, how do I request clarification?

If you are confused by terminology used in a recipe, you can simply leave a review with your questions so that we can clarify the recipe. Additionally, you may refer to the Instant Pot® Tips page in the app, or join our Facebook Community for additional tips and tricks on how to read Instant Pot® language!

How do I find additional recipes from a particular recipe contributor?

If you are looking for more recipes from a particular contributor, you can select the contributor’s name underneath the title of the recipe. Selecting the contributor’s name will bring you to the contributor’s profile on the app, where you will find the contributor’s biography, followed by their contributed recipes to the app. If you would like additional recipes from the contributor, you can select the link to their blog (or cookbook), where you will find additional recipes from the contributors.

I would like to contribute recipes, what is the process?

Is this app compatible with my Smart Bluetooth app?

Currently, the recipe app is not compatible with the Smart Bluetooth App. Future versions will provide this feature.

 Can I write my own scripts like the Smart Bluetooth app?

 Currently, this feature is not available in the recipe app. Future versions will provide this feature.

Where do I find help and additional information on my Instant Pot®?

There is a list of frequently asked questions and tips and tricks for first time users located in the app under “Instant Pot® Today”. Here you will find multiple articles with tips for first time users, and long time users. Additionally, you can find more information on our website http://instantpot.com/ under FAQ’s, or on our Shopify site under ‘Resources’. Further information can also be found on our online Facebook Community, where over 500, 000 Instant Pot® users who share their own personal tips, recipes and answer questions for fellow community members.

Where do I find help videos?

Getting Started, Help, and Additional Information videos can be found on our website http://instantpot.com/. Additionally, you will be able to find videos on our Instant Pot® Youtube channel.

There is an issue with my Instant Pot. What should I do?
