Contents and Measurments:

  • 1 Large head of green cabbage.
  • 1 1/2 pounds Hamburger. Good grade.
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • Dash pepper
  • 1 cup Minute Rice
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1 large can crushed tomatoes

  • Dip cabbage in hot water to wilt. Separate into leaves for rolling.
  • Combine ingredients, burger, salt, pepper, rice cinnamon. Mix well.
  • Place about two tablespoons mixture onto leaf. Roll, tucking in the ends.
  • Place into pressure cooker. When all are rolled, pour the canned tomato over all. Press the Instant Pot “Manual” button and “-” to reduce time to 15 minutes. “Natural release” (let the pot rest after cooking cycle completes, until pressure falls and lid can be opened).

Very good! Family looks forward to this dish any time of the year!

    Is the hamburger meat raw?

I made these today with minor variations (used regular uncooked rice instead of instant, added cumin, used pork because my guest cannot digest beef).

    But 90% the same.

My guest, who is a chef, said they were better than his cabbage rolls and asked me for the recipe.

I will put a bit more spice in next time, but they were very very good and the texture of the cabbage and filling were perfect which is more than half the battle.

I would assume that recipes by “Instant Pot Staff” would provide instructions using the “Instant Pot” settings. I really find it odd that you don’t. I’m kind of regretting buying the Instant Pot because the settings don’t easily translate to general pressure cooker recipes.

    Hi Lori,

The recipe has been corrected using the Instant Pot setting.

Delicious and so easy! used what I had on hand, Savoy cabbage and canned spaghetti sauce. Electric pressure cooker, 14 minutes.

Hi, i am confused…. when you say in your recipe: “Set at 15 pounds, and when pressure reached, cook for 13 minutes.” how do you set at 15 pounds? i am assuming you guys are using Instant Pot pressure cooker. I just bought the IP LUX60 and there isn’t anywhere to set PSI. I also maybe can find out how long does it take to let the pressure off naturally in the IP LUX60 as some recipes call for that. Thank you

It’s true that you cannot set PSI on Instant Pot. For that description, you can do so by cook about 10~20% longer, i.e. 15 minutes instead of 13.
